All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!
It makes perfect sense, like the article said Posey was already slipping down the depth chart. You also have to consider our depth at LB was better suited for this defense so that was automatic upgrade when switching over. Marv and Dick obviously aren't worried about TKO or they would have never made this move.
Op, why you getting upset?
because we don't have a replacement for him. When I made that original comment, it was under the assumption that TKO would be back and Crowell could start for Posey.
Like I already said, Stamer or Haggan as starters scares the **** out of me.
Posey being released is a good thing in my opinion, he has been over paid for 2 years now, i like posey as a player he tried and was durable for us, but was not a playmaker by any sense of the word, now what does the depth chart look like
TKO Stamer
Crowell Haggan
Fletcher Jackson?Ezkeil
Posey was the SLB and Crowell is a WLB, he played WLB last year for Spikes and did a hell of a job and he has been working out at SLB this whole camp. They must have liked what they saw out of him so far to determine that Posey was expendable. So, in essence, Crowell is not a bench player anymore, he was thrust into the starting position for a long period of time and handled it well. I think he will be fine.

Why do people consistently think they know more than the coaching staff? Posey was better than the bench players other than Crowell in the OLD system not the system they are implementing THIS year. It makes no sense to keep a player that does not fit their system just because someone may get hurt or not come back from injury at a $2Million price tag when he was not even a fit at linebacker anymore and was being used at DE where that did not even work? Now Posey has a chance to go to a scheme that is better suited to his skills.
we're replacing him with a guy that was on our bench. That's the same thing we did with Williams.
And if TKO isn't healthy then we're replacing Posey with Haggan. And that's just scary.
For the record, Crowell was barely an after thought until last year and now he is highly regarded. For all we know, Haggan or Stamer or Watson is already better then Posey.

Haggan and Stamer were TD selections and we all know how bad he was. Do you honestly think he got it right 3 times in a row? I don't have that much faith in TD.

Like what was implied in bb.com Stamer supposedly fits the cover 2 better than Posey. If he's better in this system than I wouodn't worry about cutting Posey. The dude is too slow.

The article I read said that Crowell will be moving to the weak side, Spikes old spot, Spikes will be taking over Posey's strong side spot and lining up over the oppositions TE at times. This tells me that the staff sees star written all over Crowell. As for depth I think they feel Haggen is at least equal to Posey. Chill out guys, why does every move have to be suspect to you? I think part of the problem is that many of you are too young to remember what a great job Marv Levy did with this team a generation ago. Chill, enjoy, have fun.
I can honestly say that I have never seen a starter whose name I have heard less often making plays than Posey.
Classy to let him go now with plenty of time to find employment rather than string him along.
